Blaise - bishop of Sebasta in Anatolia, put to death for his faith in 316 under Emperor Licinius - especially venerated in Dubrovnik; through his intercession the city escaped the Venetian invasion in 972; patron saint of physicians - protecting mainly against throat diseases and toothache.
