Saint of the Orthodox and Catholic Church, martyr, healer; born c. 280 in Nicomedia, died 305. Imprisoned, tortured and beheaded for refusing to deny his faith. Patron saint of doctors, nurses and apothecaries, and of lonely people. Image in 3 figures, en face, in the right hand - a spatula for portioning medicines, in the left - a medicine chest. On the left - at the height of the nimbus - representation of the face of Christ "acheiropoietos" against a background of a shawl, in a cross nimbus. Brass radial nimbus and a brass basma ( matched?) encircling the icon - with a motif of floral threads and shells.
