Walnut, brass; 74 cm x 97 x 43.5 cm.
Italy, 1930s.
Tall, straight, with slightly rounded front corners, closed with hinged wings and a pivot wing at the front, veneered with patterned veneer, inlaid on the front with veining forming a lattice and decorated with spiral brass strips and handles, supported on two console blackened feet. The interiors of the side wings were lined with mirror strips, and two shelves framed by openwork metal galleries were mounted on each. When the middle wing is turned, a bulging semicircular cabinet is revealed, with a turntable on the top shelf, under which vertical record binders. Inside the bar, decorative dark-painted elements: the edges of the shelves, the side slats of the cabinet and the binder. On the turntable shelf a company sticker in the form of a coat of arms: E. Nanetti, Ebanisteria Brevetti Bologna Marchio Deposito.
The cabinet was made in E. Nanetti's Bologna carpentry shop, active around 1930-1950, which, among other things, made similar furniture with built-in radios and turntables. The inscription on the sticker indicates that the manufacturer claimed this design at the patent office. In addition to its function as a furniture case for a turntable, it is an elegant and stylish piece of furniture.
