The composition is, according to the list of models realized in the Art Department in Selb, a replica of a sculpture by German sculptor and early Rococo stucco artist Paul Egell (1691-1752), a pupil of Dresden sculptor Balthasar Permoser (1651-1732).Modeled on the head of Christ from the Crucifixion altarpiece for the church in Mannheim?
