sterling silver echoed (combined hallmark - sample 84 and Moscow mark - in oval with indentations, goldsmith's monogram in Cyrillic IP), enamel; height 14.5 cm, width 8.1 cm, depth 6 cm; weight 208 g.
Moscow, 1880s.
Salt cellar with square-plan container with hinged lid with applied badge with enamel Cyrillic inscription: WITHOUT SALT / WITHOUT BREAD / POLOVINA / OBIEDA. From the front suspended multicolored towel decorated with colorful enamel; openwork backboard, with a canopy supported by columns. All decorated with engraved floral and geometric patterns referring to the traditional style and ornamentation of Russian folk art.
