Gloss: "Group 49" - a formation of composers formed in 1949 by three young artists - Kazimierz Serocki (1922-1981), Tadeusz A. Baird (1928-1981) and Jan Krenz (1926-2020) - at the Meetings of Composers and Music Critics in Lagow Lubuski. They decided to unite their strengths and skills to find a way to survive artistically during the difficult time of domination in Polish music by the aesthetics of socialist realism. The founding members held just two joint composer concerts (1950 and 1952 in Warsaw), then each followed his own creative path.
