Steel head, drawn on both sides in wide armor; engraved inscription on outer blade: "VAINCRE OU MOURIR" [win or die]. A bronze, triple-barreled, longitudinally moustachioed, cross-barreled yoke. Handle with wooden shaft covered with leather, braided with brass wire. Head with a hood, from which a braid extending to the hilt is derived. Steel scabbard, with two brass riffles, with bracers.
A saber of this type was used by Polish officers serving and fighting under Napoleon in the period 1802-1815.
