Steel, bronze, brass, wood, leather, cord and haberdashery tape;
France, 19th/20th century. (until the Third Republic).
Steel head, ground on both sides in a dimpled groove. Cross-barbed yoke, with an openwork bronze shield and an anchor on the shield. Rear arm of the hilt finished with a bird's head. Handle shaft notched, black. Cap with long braid. Leather-covered scabbard with three fittings; decorative spur on the tip of the hilt. On the neck of the scabbard an admiralty anchor. Attached to the saber a well-preserved regulation sling.
