Russia, Novgorod Monastery 17th-18th century, cover 19th century.
Scene of Christ being laid in the tomb: depiction of the Mother of God with her hands folded on her chest leaning over the tomb where St. Joseph and St. Nicodemus are laying the body of the Son of God taken down from the cross.
In the background - the figures of St. John and the Women taking part in the ceremony.
The icon is covered with a chemise - a dress - embroidered with colorful beads.
