Mantel clock with the figure of Orpheus

Gilded bronze; height 45 cm; width 28 cm; depth 10 cm.
France, before mid-19th century.
Rectangular pedestal, supported on palmette legs, plain; separated by kimatation cornice from the upper part with relief decoration, with mythical landscape scene depicting Orpheus taming wild animals with his lyre playing. Higher up, a rectangular pedestal - an altar, housing the clock mechanism with the Parisian system of striking hours and half-hours. The dial with Roman numerals, all around relief decoration with rose bushes and branches and a lyre. On top - a burning torch and laurel wreath and lyre, played by a young man in an antique costume (Orpheus) standing on the left. On the right - supported by a pedestal - a large pendulum - a symbol of passing time - in the shape of a mandolin with a long griffin.
The key is missing.
