Signed on the base: in dark cobalt two crossed torches. On the underside of the base imprinted French inscription: duc d'Albufera, maréchal de France Ne a Lyon m.a. Mont. endon. Se signala en Espagne ; on the front of the base imprint: SUCHET; on the back, imprint: 1772-1826.

Portrait figure of General Luis Gabriel Suchet - Duke of Albufer (1770-1826), in general's uniform with the star of the Order of the Legion of Honor (?) and saber at his side. Suchet, the son of a silk manufacturer from Lyon, began his military career in 1792 (he joined the National Guard). From 1793 he fought as an officer of Napoleon, quickly rising (in 1799) to the rank of major general; he participated in the wars with Austria, Prussia and Russia (1805 - 1807), in the battles of Austerl, Pultusk. In 1809 appointed commander of one of the corps in Spain, the best French general during the battles in Spain. In 1811 he became marshal of France (nomination July 8, 1811).
